In this animated film, In the midst of saving the world from Lex Luther’s evil agenda, Superman is exposed to solar radiation and may be in grave danger of dying. Not the best animated film. I’m not a huge Superman fan… although I do like the character a lot. I especially like seeing him when he’s with Batman or the other members of the team.
As for DC Comic heroes, I’m mainly a fan of Flash and Batman. But this Kryptonian is still an interesting character, even if some people think he’s flat.
Sam Liu is capable of the worst and the best. His ‘Justice League – Gods and Monsters’ is one of the worst I can remember. His “Batman – Gotham By Gaslight” was slightly better and starting to look good. It was worth his “Justice League vs the Fatal Five”. As was “Reign of the Supermen” which was also good, but really could have been better. The concept of “Batman: Soul of the Dragon” was also nice and not bad at all. The same goes for “Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham”.
It’s actually funny: I’m not a big Harley Quinn fan either… but, surprisingly, I liked her animated films the most. I thought her ‘Batman and Harley Quinn’ and ‘Suicide Squad – Hell To Pay’ were really good. And it’s in collaboration with Jake Castorena (who I adore, though!) that Sam Liu finally reaches perfection with ‘The Death Of Superman – Part 1’. I sincerely hope they’ll still be together for the sequel.
Jake also made the huge and legendary “Batman vs Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, which is surprisingly a success in my book.
That’s it! I haven’t seen Sam’s other films yet (the ones I didn’t mention!), but I will. I haven’t seen his Marvel Thor film, for example.
Here, once again, Superman is in danger of dying. And despite the sad ending, there’s still hope. Since we started talking about the Multiverse, everything has become possible. If there are contradictions in the various stories, all we have to do is say that it’s part of it and that it’s in another dimension. It’s a bit easy, but not without interest or meaning.
My rating ⭐⭐1/2
