3096 Days was based on real life events of Natascha Kampusch, a 10 year old Austrian girl, kidnapped on March 03, 1998, on her way to school and kept for 8 years by her captor.
I find it unbelievable that some movie reviewers had negative comments accusing Ms. Kampusch of exploiting her story to become rich. Come on now! The positive comments have all my respect, the negative comments have all my disdain and rejection. Natascha Kampusch has been through hell. To the very least, I think she deserves to be compensated and more. Because her life will never be normal again.
I had read her book. Yes, I liked it a lot. But not because it is voyeurism, but because it is touching and well written. And it puts light on those things that people can’t even imagine in their worst nightmare. Natascha K has all my respect. Even though the book is still different, I still find it interesting to see the changes, to be able to make the comparisons. Several points of view are always more interesting than one.
This movie makes you want to vomit… and it’s atrocious what happens in it. But it gets a 5 star rating from me, because, well, it really happened. And it’s important to make the worst into art. The actors and especially actresses are excellent. My rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
