Countdown is a supernatural horror film about a deadly cellphone app that predicts when a person will die. This film is in the same vein as Final Destination, Truth Or Dare, Wish Upon, and It Follows where young adults have to desperately avoid their impending deaths. So far all of these films mentioned had females take the lead while males were secondary characters.

This movie gets about 4 stars from me. I’ll gladly see it again. A plot hole or two made me remove one star from the rating. Actually I was impressed by the actress who dies first and the lead actress. Both had tremendous performances.  You go girls!

Frankly, I don’t love horror films, rather I have become addicted to them. I’m always looking for movies that are scary, but not gore based. Gore movies may never get a 5 star rating from me except for maybe Saw or the first Human Centipede. It seems that horror films are the most lucrative genre more so than thrillers. Someone once described thrillers as cheap action movies….ridiculous, right? Thrillers are actually movies that are more psychological and plot driven than action movies. You don’t need to use too much brain power to watch an action movie. But that’s another story altogether. My rating ⭐⭐⭐⭐
