Lavender (2016) directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly. After losing her memory, Jane (Abbie Cornish) begins to see unexplained things after her psychiatrist suggests she visit her childhood home.

A fairly interesting film, with no unbearable scenes, carried by the great Abbie Cornish, who does well, once again.
On the other hand, I don’t understand why Dermot Mulroney is in so many of the films I watch these days. This actor has appeared in lots of films and played all kinds of characters. He’s gone from an exemplary boyfriend, to a man surviving in the snow surrounded by wolves, to a villain, to an ordinary, uneventful family man. He’s also an ambiguous character in the sixth and final Scream. In short! I admire this actor. Even when he doesn’t have a big role or doesn’t appear throughout the film, he’s still there!

This film isn’t great, but it’s gripping. It blurs the lines right from the start, and the more we learn about the truth, the more confused we become, because things didn’t really happen as we imagined. The film’s title isn’t easy to understand for everyone, especially non-English speakers. But it clearly has something to do with the song “Lavender Blue”.

Not an essential film… It didn’t make it to the cinema and wasn’t too successful. More than half the critics didn’t seem to like it.  But I’m glad it exists and I didn’t waste my time this time.
