The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun (2015) This French thriller directed by Joann Sfar  about an office worker who steals her boss’ car (which has a body in its boot) and ends up visiting a mysterious town where she becomes the prime suspect for murder.

Right! I’ll be frank and try not to waste too much time. First of all… what is Benjamin Biolay doing here? He should have stuck to the fact that he’s one of the few good French singers… instead of swimming in this… turnip?!

Relatively poorly acted, pretty bad script. It’s crazy: as much as I enjoy American films, these French films horrify me. As much as I am almost always hooked by American heroines, French heroines are unbearable. The reason is simple: American heroines are strong and courageous, French heroines are neurotic, cowardly, twisted, liars… in short… everything you need!

I still give it two stars, because the two actresses in the film give us the eye for more than forty minutes. And then, because it’s such a bad movie that it’s almost good! I say almost!!! A film that wants to be intelligent, but really isn’t. A film that thinks it’s brilliant and surprising, when it’s just boring and distracting. A great moment! You think it’s not possible to do something so bad in this day and age… And yet… this is only the beginning!

Apparently this movie is a remake of “The Lady in the Car with Glasses and a Gun” made in 1970 starring Samantha Eggar. I have yet to see it. I hope it’s at least slightly better. A film buff is still a film buff. At least… I think so !!!
