Slow Pulp -Yard (2023) https://www.slowpulp.com/
What a marvellous album! In all the comments I’ve seen, people all have their favorite songs. But for me… impossible! I can’t think of a bad song.
There’s extraordinary power here. Rock in its purest, rawest form. But there are also very quiet songs with just guitar and vocals, sometimes a bit of violin here, harmonica there.
The title track, Yard, is a gem in its own right.
An ultra-good lyricist provides the vocals. It’s nice when artists have things to say and aren’t just there to swear or shock.
Yet another band following in the footsteps of the 90’s alternative rock movement, and it’s a treat for big fanatics like myself. An album that can make you sad and nostalgic at times, even if you don’t know the band. It manages to take us where it wants to go.
Soaring, gripping, sometimes harmonious, sometimes dissonant, and there’s even the magic of the marriage of the two!
Slow Pulp has lost absolutely nothing from its beginnings three years ago to the present day.
Here’s hoping the band lasts…
