Every Breath You Take (2021) is a film about a psychiatrist whose client commits suicide finds his family life and marriage in shambles after introducing her surviving brother to his wife and daughter. No, this film does not feature the legendary Police song. But the idea of the subject of the stalker is there. Very good movie.
The film stars Casey Affleck as the tortured and passive psychologist; Michelle Monaghan in the role of the destabilized mother who can’t mourn and who doesn’t believe she loves her husband anymore; India Eisley as the lost rebellious teenager who wants to do everything she shouldn’t; and Sam Claflin as the unstable seducer seeking revenge. An effective quartet. I’m not a big fan of any of them at first or I don’t know them very well.
But here I enjoyed them all. Good plot, good storyline, good pacing, good dialogue and good charisma for the characters who must have it. I just find that the problems are solved a little too quickly, not very original and in a way that is a little too phoned in. This is the reproach that I would have to make.
