American Carnage (2022) Directed by Diego Hallivis. After the government issues an executive order to arrest the children of undocumented immigrants, the newly detained youth are offered an opportunity to have their charges dropped by volunteering as caregivers in a mysterious senior care facility.

I watched this film for Jenna Ortega… and frankly… I did the right thing! Once again, she’s incredible. I don’t necessarily want to get into the Wednesday series, although I do enjoy seeing bits and pieces here and there, but one thing’s for sure: Jenna is also the biggest draw of the last two “Screams“. She’s a really great actress… who I was initially wary of. When I saw her immediate success, I thought it must be undeserved. And I was wrong. As for Jorge Lendeborg, Jr, he’s also excellent in his role. His character is sympathetic and makes us laugh. Kudos to the ever hilarious Allen Maldonado as Big Mac. As for Bella Ortiz, I wrote to her on her Instagram! To tell her that this is the first time I think we’ve found a new Emma Stone, who is an actress I adore. Believe it or not, the Caucasian/Latina/Hispanic actress replied that it made her happy and that a collaboration with Emma will be made in the future. We’ll see! We don’t know if it was her reply or if it was her agent, best friend, fraudster or even a robot… but I’m already looking forward to seeing Bella & Emma in the same project. American Carnage is a very good film. The story is intriguing and the plot twists are interesting. As with “Fresh” starring the incredible Sebastian Stan (those who have seen both films will understand the comparison!), this feature-length film is less violent than it suggests. A touch of comedy softens and de-dramatises the whole thing. And that’s good, because it’s often necessary, in my humble opinion, when the horror goes far enough.
