Stella Donnelly – Thrush Metal (26 février 2018)When you see Stella Donnelly in the album image, you think she either wants to disgust the listener, or make him laugh. Indeed, she’s eating spaghetti, and you can see it sticking out of her mouth. And yet, she has this cute little innocent look. So, once again, I’m thinking that either she’s a good actress, or she’s been unintentionally photographed. But the fact that the photo was kept shows that the young lady has no lack of humor and doesn’t seem to take herself too seriously. And it occurs to me that if I go on at such length about an album photo, which is also a presentation photo on her Soundcloud, I could certainly go on twice as long about the protagonist’s musical talent.

So what do I discover? Already, when you search the internet, you discover other very different photos, where she looks all shy, almost coquettish, all adorable. What’s different about the spaghetti photo? The fact that she’s wearing make-up and not completely natural, in overalls, a cap and her tomboy look. That said, she still looks authentic and simple. Stella Donnelly, born April 10, 1992, is a Welsh-Australian indie rock singer, songwriter and guitarist. This EP I’m talking about was a deserved success when it was released in 2017. As a result, she signed with Secretly Canadian in 2018. She released her critically acclaimed debut studio album Beware of the Dogs in March 2019. A record I’m looking forward to listening to soon. She had started singing in a rock band in high school where they did Green Day covers. Her EP is quite calm, melodious, yet alternative. Released digitally and on cassette via Melbourne label Healthy Tapes. She recorded her demo while playing in a band and working in the hotel business. She hasn’t been idle.

I’m not sure yet whether her albums are more energetic and whether there’s a whole band behind her or not. In any case, here, it’s indie pop, indie rock and even indie-folk that’s very pleasant to listen to. Her professions are author, composer, performer and musician. And her instruments are first and foremost vocals, followed by guitar, bass and keyboards. Lots of talent and lovely lyrics from this lovely woman. Full of emotion in these six tracks, which are really good. No regrets about discovering this artist. https://stelladonnelly.bandcamp.com/album/thrush-metal-2 🌟🌟🌟🌟
