Memory (2022)
I really liked this film, which I hadn’t really wanted to see.
I heard quite a few different things about it. But it’s really good.
The alliance of a hitman and a policeman to achieve the same goal is touching.
We knew the film was going to be brutal and violent, because it’s signed and directed by Martin Campbell.
Yes, yes, the man who made “Casino Royal”!
We also know that Liam Neeson is a fine actor.
Guy Pearce, on the other hand, may not be a household name. I think this actor has also made a name for himself, with some very interesting roles. Of course, I’ll have to see his most important film, Memento, again, but I’ve really enjoyed him in: Démineurs (The Hurt Locker), Le Pacte, but above all in Breathe In, La Route, Equals and so on. I never thought that one day I’d suddenly want to see this actor’s filmography.
For example, I haven’t yet seen Marie Stuart – Queen of Scots. It’ll come, because there’s a very good cast there too.
Well, everyone’s entitled to their mistakes. Don’t be afraid of the Dark is a very bad, catastrophic film, to be avoided or discarded!
The film’s best-known actress is Monica Bellucci. Yet I find her very bad. I don’t know what people see in her. The most professional female actress in this film is clearly the Englishwoman, born into an Indian family, Taj Atwal.
Harold Torres also has a very interesting role.
And the charismatic but late Ray Stevenson, who died last year (2023), is also part of the cast.
A very good film in the detective genre. But not for all audiences, as there’s unbearable violence for sensitive souls. What’s more, the tricks are so well done that you really believe it’s real and for real.
