Clock (2023) A film that keeps you on the edge of your seat… but only because you want to see how it ends. And it ends badly! In every sense of the word. In fact, the film is interesting from the very beginning. Well, obviously, there’s the classic pattern that makes you think it’s a remake of a remake: a horrible, disturbing scene that makes you wonder. Then we see the lead actress and know that she will be the ultimate victim of what happened to someone else in the first scene. We figure she’ll either defeat some curse or scheme, or she’ll die too. The chosen one for this role is Jess Weixler. An excellent actress, she has nothing to prove in this respect. On the other hand, her character is relatively annoying, unnerving, unsympathetic, weak and cowardly. As much as we can understand what she’s going through, we want to shake her up and sway her to get her thinking straight. As a result, it becomes difficult to follow her throughout the film. We’ll have to see her in A Woman (2010), in which she co-stars with Willem Dafoe, to see if she’s played in any good films or not. It’s very difficult to renew horror films. This film attempts to do just that… but by trying to do something too subtle, it drowns in tedium and incoherence. Fans of gore, thrills and unbearable thrillers will simply say that this film can’t be called Horror, just like films like “Smile”. As far as I’m concerned, I’ve given this film a lot of chances. The beginning is great, but the longer it goes on, the more it sinks into bad filmmaking. I told myself that an incredible ending could save this turnip. But after the end, the screen goes black and we’re treated to a second ending… which is again intended to be subtle… but which for me completely destroys the film’s potential. So… I didn’t like it! Alexis Jacknow missed her film. I hope she’ll do better in the future, but I doubt it. I hope she’ll do better in the future, but I doubt it, because she may be resting on her laurels compared to those who will be shouting “O Genius!!!”.Yet another psychological thriller that somehow ends up as a classic horror film, multiplying false leads and jump scares. The style is beginning to go round in circles, and the constant quest for more will lead to a pile-up of this kind of turnip. Too bad, since the initial pitch was interesting and very topical. What’s more, there are too many sex scenes for my taste. Apart from the picture quality, the story ends up sucking and the ending is incomprehensible.
