Flatliners (2017) the remake of the 1990 film of the same name. Oh dear ! I can’t tell if this movie is good or not. Anyway, I’m not going to be objective in my review. If you see this film independently, it can be very interesting. But die-hard fans, those who loved the first part, must have a lot to look forward to.When I saw that Ellen Page was on board and that she was going to carry part of this film, I thought maybe that’s not such a bad thing. But despite her talent, for me, she’s not the actress of the century. Above all, she’s incredibly charming. And when I saw Kiefer Sutherland, I wondered if all the actors from the first film were going to make a brief appearance. It could have been really funny: old people seeing young people having the same experiences they once had. Just a little wink. It’s funny I should say that, because there were winks in Ghostbusters 3, a feminist film made by feminists for feminists, not for real fans. These were perhaps the only good things about the film, if you include the first 5 minutes. In this film, the actors lack the necessary charisma. Yes, I expected too much!I felt the same as when I saw the last two Fright Night movies, the last Fantastic 4, the last Spiderman. Only in Psycho did I not feel that way. But that’s a bad example, because it was almost a copy-paste of the original. Except that they were able to find the right actors there. Here, we didn’t have the courage to call the film Flatliners 2.But it kind of is. It’s the same pattern as Wild Things (Sexcrimes), Cruel Intentions, The Butterfly Effect and so on. The film lost me several times along the way. It wasn’t interesting enough to keep me glued to the screen the whole time. It’s entertainment taken from a masterpiece, with a good message, a good moral… but alas, it’s flatly constructed. The special effects are there, everything is sophisticated, and that’s where the charm disappears! Too bad… once again…
