The Hunt (2012) It’s hard to give a film like this less than 5 stars. Unless you have no brains, no sensitivity, no common sense. You’d have to have lived in a cave or had no worries at all in your life not to give this film top marks. Of course, it’s quite unbearable, it’s no picnic. But it dares to denounce a sad reality that is still too hidden. This film should be a compulsory part of school curricula, as a wake-up call. The director, Thomas Vinterberg, must have seen or experienced a lot in his life. He’d already been through a lot with Festen (The Celebration), about the despicable stories hidden in families. He reprised Thomas Bo Larsen, again in a rather unsympathetic role. I wondered. I wondered if Thomas is really a despicable person, so much so that he gives off something vile in these two films. The answer is: No! He’s just a very good actor! He’s quite likeable off the set and, I suppose, relatable. As for Mads Mikkelsen, I never cease to have admiration, sympathy and respect for this actor. He often plays tormented people… hence the fact that he must have a lot of fun breaking that kind of character by playing the famous Dr Hannibal Lecter!Although Hollywood wants to make him primarily an action actor, Thomas Vinterberg has shown his true talent and couldn’t have chosen a better choice for his two films, Drunk (2020) and this one. A film that tells the story of what happens to someone who is unjustly accused of an atrocious crime they didn’t commit. Here, we don’t dwell at all on the prison part and all the horror inside. For that, you’ll have to see the other masterpiece, Shawshank Redemption. No, here we see how everyday life is turned upside down. In relation to our loved ones, our neighbors, the local supermarket…

A must-see
