Multiverse (2019) is a science fiction film by Gaurav Seth. Let’s face it: this movie looks pretty lame, has a pretty lame title and a pretty lame story. But then I realized that it’s not all that bad. Or maybe I’m just very indulgent! At least it’s a film that sets the tone. It’s not a movie that starts out like a good thriller and ends up like a bad sci-fi movie. So, yes, there are inconsistencies, missteps and illogicalities. The screenwriters clearly lost their way with such a vast and complex subject. But the actors pull it off, especially Sandra Mae Frank and Munro Chambers. Paloma Kwiatkowski isn’t bad at all, either. Robert Naylor is the most average and least memorable of the group. As for Marlee Matlin, she’s got my respect. She’s really got something. Perfect in the role of the mother. What’s more, this actress is one of the deaf people who have turned to acting. And she does it very well. There are moments of boredom, of course. But there are nice moments, great special effects and a good ending. That said, if you want to see a masterpiece, go and see “Triangle”! Those who have seen both will no doubt understand the comparison.
