House On Haunted Hill (1999) The House of Horror Actually, this movie really sucks… and yet, it’s a real pleasure to see Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Ali Larter and Peter Gallagher together in it. What’s more, the success of Marylin Manson’s cover of Sweet Dreams took off around this time, probably thanks to this film. A couple of good scenes, but a pretty messed-up story. The fact that the person who seems to be organizing the game ends up trapped with the other contestants is rather original. A couple of twists with his wife. There’s nothing really exceptional about the horror itself. It’s rather boring that way. The house is alive, but there’s no living creature. It’s as if in a ghost train, the train is alive and itself haunted… but without the creatures around. I don’t know if you follow me? It’s not a film that’s going to leave a lasting impression on me… it’s more likely to make me smile when I look back on it! And yet, I don’t think that was the point! If, on the other hand, it’s really seen as a comedy, then it’s a success!!!!
My Rating
Return to house on haunted hill (2007) Back to the house of horror Okay! I’m going to give it two stars for the fact that the lead actors are decent, the film is fun for forty minutes and the ending suited me. Apart from that, let’s face it, it’s a lousy film that puts on gore and sex simply to keep the viewer from falling asleep. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work! The first one was already bad, apart from a pretty great cast. This one is reminiscent of 13 Ghosts at times, but a notch or two below. That’s it!
