Crawl (2019) A film from the director of the dreadful “High Tension (2003)” and the very unhealthy but very good “The Hill Has Eyes (2006)”.Just as I have my list of shark films to see, I also have my list of crocodiles. In this case, it’s alligators. So… apparently, I have a long history with lead actress Kaya Scodelario. Basically, I wanted to see this movie for her, too. Indeed, I saw that this actress was rising, climbing the ladder very quickly. So I thought I’d try to find out why. And throughout the film, she totally convinced me. It was only at the end that I realized I already knew her from The Maze Runner trilogy, and I loved her there. But I hadn’t recognized it… and I’d kind of forgotten about it…It was a great pleasure to see and rediscover him in this film. And even more so to see Barry Pepper as her father. I’d missed this actor. I hadn’t seen him in films for a while. But… now that I think about it… it seems he was also in The Maze Runner! Unbelievable! Barry was in the magnificent “Seven Pounds” with Will Smith. He was the hypocritical friend in 25th hour (2002), the most fragile and endearing guardian in The Green Line. This actor isn’t ultra well-known, even though he’s played alongside such greats as Edward Norton, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeff Bridges, Tom Hanks (twice), Matt Damon (also twice), Vin Diesel, Johnny Depp and so on. This film is overexaggerated, but the alligators and special effects are pretty well done, and the suspense is good. The story is nice too, since it starts with a hurricane that creates floods that the creatures take advantage of. The two main actors are excellent. The pace is good. It’s really the over-exaggeration that will prevent me from calling this film a 5-star masterpiece. I really appreciated this little review I found:”When the director of Piranhas 3d meets the producer of Evil Dead, you’d expect sparks to fly.Sparks, there are a few, but not as many as imagined. On a subject that’s been rehashed 1,000 times in the horror genre, this time we have crocodiles, or rather a crocodile that’s going to try to eat the very pretty heroine, knowing that she still has to save her father, etc. etc.In the genre it’s pleasant, I found it not too bad.
