Lowertown – I Love To Lie (2022) Another album I don’t need to listen to in its entirety……to know that I’m going to love it from the first note to the last. And yet, I’m not sure it’s physically available. Fortunately, I was able to listen to it on music platforms.
Ah, the incredibly talented Olivia O. and Avsha the Awesome have done it again. Creative, prolific, two talented artists that today’s music should be proud to have. I really love 90’s inspired bands. Yet I’ve only listened to the 80s for two decades, including the 90s. I didn’t know what I was missing. At the same time, I’ve become an 80s specialist. That’s something!
So, anyway! “I Love To Lie” is a powerful album, groovy at times. Its raw energy is very punk, the dissonance perfectly mastered. The harmonies too. Excellent lyrics. I can’t resist writing a few: “They’re extremists I don’t like it I just wanted to have a good time. They’re playing with the law. I don’t want to be on the run. They’re enemies of “the federation”. I can’t handle any more guns “There’s nothing wrong with the metronomic drums or the dirty, funky guitars. And the bass… frankly, it would take me a long time to learn how to play these lines. It’s no mean feat.”
As you can see, I really love this band. Another one of Alternative’s finest!
