Madame Web (2024). Okay, first… let me be clear: I’ll always love Marvel. I’ll always love DC. Just because the movies are getting worse and worse doesn’t mean I’m going to deny or spit on all those years of enjoyment with Comics, cartoons, animated films, excellent trilogies like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, Blade, Nolan’s Batman and Burton’s two or movies like the first X-Men or Days of Future Past, series like Batman from the 60s or Flash (both from the 90s and the recent one) and I could go on for hours.

In short! They’d missed the Spidey spin-offs so far! They’d done relatively poorly with Venom, Venom 2 (with Carnage) and with Morbius. And I wanted so much to be able to say “But now they’ve done it. They’ve raised the bar!” Alas, once again, that’s not the case. I’m willing to admit that we’ve grown up, that this film is mainly for children, that we live in a different era and that we need to adapt the idiocy to the zeitgeist or to our era. But let’s face it, this film is far more boring than thrilling. Granted, we don’t understand teenagers anymore, and we shouldn’t judge them.

That said, I wonder if the generation before us really saw us that way too? The trio of Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney and Emma Roberts managed to be, together, in a failed movie. It’s crazy!

And yet, Madame Web is a character I adore! I really do! I don’t know if she meets Dr. Strange somewhere, but surely. It seems to me they’re made for each other.

I think this time I’ve got the lamest Superhero movie.I’d already given two undeserved stars to Blue Beetle, The Flash, The Marvels… but this time, this is it! I remember someone saying he was saving the single stars for the Bruce Willis movies. Okay, I can see that… but let’s not forget that the man is admirable: he quickly made lots of movies just to earn a lot of money to keep his family safe, knowing that his own health was going to deteriorate very quickly.

As for some other people who always criticise everything : why see American films… if you’re going to say they’re no good because they’re too American and too American-style??? I’m missing something here ;-D

Dakota Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith & Don Johnson, said in an interview that Madame Web was a lousy movie. As a result, I think the director will do without her services in the future. So she was upset that Madame Web was written by an AI. And that’s why audiences didn’t like the film. So the film studios replaced the screenwriters. She also warns that if they can easily replace screenwriters with AI, that means they could do the same for actors. That’s promising! Not one of my favourite actresses (yet), but at least she’s far from stupid.
