The Island (2005) (Film Review)

This is a Michael Bay sci-fi thriller starring Ewan McGregor, Scarlet Johansson, and Steve Buscemi.

Oh well…. crazy how enthusiastic people are about this film. Yes, it does show that the rich can have whatever they want, it’s about conditioning, cloning, lies…But I would have preferred a dramatic thriller rather than an action sci-fi… or a sci-fi action film.

Anyway…the Ewan / Scarlett acting duo is perfect, Steve Buscemi rather nice in his small role, Sean Bean always used to being the bad guy who dies.

The film dragged on for me. The action scenes start out spectacular, but you quickly lose faith in them because they’re so big! In the end, I just had a good time. I don’t understand those who went to see it 5 times in the cinema. Maybe it’s better at the cinema!

Nice messages of hope though. A film to see once in your life.
