Hüsker Dü – Everything Falls Apart Date de sortie de l’album : 1 janvier 1983
Everything Falls Apart is the debut studio album by American punk rock band Hüsker Dü, released in January 1983 on Reflex Records.Let me be quite clear: I love punk, but it’s the pre-1980s punk that I love more than anything else.
In the early 1980s, faster, more aggressive sub-genres such as hardcore punk, Oi’, street punk and anarcho-punk became more predominant modes of punk rock. Fortunately for me, there were bands that followed the first wave like X or the Adicts. That said, there are good bands even in these sub-genres: hardcore punk had Minor Threat, Oi’ had the excellent Sham 69, street punk had The Exploited and anarcho-punk had Crass. I wasn’t crazy about bands like Discharge, GBH or The Germs. So as far as this album is concerned, it’s a bit in-between.
As a result, I only like five songs out of the twelve (nineteen for the extended version). The slower ones. The ultra-fast tracks already herald the arrival of hardcore metal or metalcore. And that’s not really my thing, I admit! It’s always the same with this band: they’ve done a few songs I like on each album, but I don’t like any of their albums in their entirety.
