Neil Marshall certainly makes good films. I really liked The Lair (2022), Hellboy – Call of Darkness (2019), The Descent (2005). The Descent 2 was much less good and was made by Jon Harris. Just look at Dog Soldiers (2002) & Doomsday (2008)!
One thing’s for sure: you’ve got to love thrills, horror, suspense and science fiction to appreciate this excellent director.
This film is the first collaboration I’ve seen between Neil Marshall and actress Charlotte Kirk.
Okay!
It was hardly predictable… but I really enjoyed this War, Action, Horror, Science Fiction, Thriller film…
A film set in my country of ethnicity (Afghanistan) and for the first time, I recognised my language when people spoke. Yes, because there are several dialects I don’t know that have appeared in other films like Rambo 3, for example.
I got my money’s worth. I was caught up in the action and the plot.
The story isn’t extraordinary, but that’s all I wanted from this kind of entertainment.
The exaggeration and stupid decisions, as well as the ridiculous reactions, mean that the film isn’t perfect. But I fully appreciated the characters and I love the end credits when we see the actors again with their real names. Predator is a great example of that. Incidentally, the other thing these two films have in common is that it’s a military team that goes to war… but comes across some unexpected creatures.
