Viking Wolf (2022) Also known at Vikingulven. This is a Norwegian horror/thriller film directed by Stig Svendsen, written by Espen Aukan and Stig Svendsen.
The lead actress, who plays the policewoman mother, Liv Anna Mjönes (born 18 September 1979), is a Swedish actress. In 1995, at the age of 16, she began studying dance and drama. She graduated after four years at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Stockholm in 2006. She is best known for her role as Frida in the Swedish film Kyss Mig.
The actors are relatively good. And the film is very decent. At the very beginning, when you see the first werewolf, you think that it’s not very well done, that the tricks are a bit laughable. But in the end you get caught up in the fairly interesting plot.
You have a good time, unless you don’t like werewolf films, of course. My favourite, and the one I consider to have the biggest cult following, is An American Werewolf In London (1981). And the transformation here clearly seems to have been inspired by the film by the great John Landis (The Blues Brothers, Trading Places).
There are moments that may seem ridiculous, such as when the little deaf girl confronts the creature and almost manages to coax it. And there’s also a rather pointless double ending. Yes, because the second ending doesn’t add much to the first and is almost similar in the ambiguity it leaves.
But on the whole, the film is enjoyable, nothing really unbearable, not too much gore, a good thriller that’s easy to watch. Compared to what I would have expected from a film of this genre today, I’m not disappointed.
