Urge (2016) is a thriller mystery film also known as The Duke. Another totally rubbish film starring Ashley Greene!
Many talented actresses choose their films poorly. We’ll remember her from Twilight and especially Kristy (which, alas, is only a good film, and not an excellent masterpiece!). Her performances are pretty decent, but either we don’t see enough of her, or it’s all based on her charm. Let’s face it: not even 10% of her films are good.
Let’s face it: Ashley deserves better… but isn’t it already too late to put things right?

As for Pierce Brosnan, we knew he was capable of the worst when he made the very bad The Tailor of Panama (2001). Well… I admit I hated it when it came out, but I’ll have to watch it again to write a review.

Just so you know, The Duke is also :

  • an American mini-series first broadcast in 1979;
  • The Duke, an album by British singer Joe Jackson released in 2012;
  • The Duke (Urge), American film directed by Aaron Kaufman, released in 2016 ;
  • The Duke, British film directed by Roger Michell released in 2020 ;
  • The Dukes, American TV series first broadcast in 1983.

This film is garbage, more than rubbish. Yet another film about an interesting new drug that completely inhibits people, who end up becoming totally addicted to it and letting go of their baser, more primitive instincts.
Once again, on paper it almost looks good.
But it’s so badly handled and the idea so badly exploited that it’s just pathetic.

If you like drugs, sex, ramshackle parties and violence, then yes, this is the film for you!
