Brazen (2022) With Alyssa Milano, Sam Page, Emilie Ullerup… A journalist, Mégane Choquet, wrote ‘L’Emprise du vice sur Netflix : c’est quoi ce thriller à la Cinquante Nuances de Grey avec Alyssa Milano ?’ followed by ‘At the top of the viewing charts on Netflix, L’Emprise du vice marks the return of Alyssa Milano in a film. The actress plays a best-selling author in this thriller with a Fifty Shades of Grey vibe.”Okay!
Alyssa Milano is an American actress, producer, singer, activist and campaigner, born on 19 December 1972 in New York. She first came to public attention in the TV series Who’s the Boss? from 1984 to 1992. She grew up before the eyes of television viewers and has made several feature films since the 1980s, including Commando (1985), Double Dragon (1994), Deadly Obsession (1996), Bon à tirer (B.A.T.) (2011), Happy New Year (2011) and Little Italy (2018). But it was on television that she confirmed her fame with the series Melrose Place (1997-1998), Charmed (1998-2006) and Mistresses (2013-2014).
She made her comeback in the controversial Netflix series Insatiable (2018-2019). For me, Alyssa was mostly a series actress from the 80s and 90s. I never really watched her other films. So much for her.
It’s crazy, because the script was written by three people, Edithe Swensen, Donald Martin and Suzette Couture, and the film is nothing incredible! But there are people out there alone who have produced masterpieces. Three people making an unoriginal work. I don’t understand when a trio can look at each other and say: ‘Hey, what we’ve just created is brilliant! It’s almost genius!” A film that looks like a TV movie. And it almost is. Whereas films like Black Island (Schwarze Insel) are recognised as TV movies, when in fact they look more like films.
What’s more, Alyssa Milano in the role of a highly gifted profiler is as credible as Dominique Swain in the role of a General. And yet the latter has played this kind of role twice: General Hauser in ‘Meteor Moon’ and General Bridget Norris in ‘4 Horsemen: Apocalypse’! That’s saying something! A film you can watch with popcorn… and that’s where it ends!Nothing extraordinary.
