Going to Brazil (2016) I originally watched this film for Alison Wheeler. I love this comedienne and humorist. I’ve always enjoyed watching her on “Le Quotidien”. And I’ve read her hilarious book “Ma vie est mieux que la vôtre”.
It was a great pleasure to meet him again here. But I enjoyed the whole quartet. Indeed, Philippine Stindel, Margot Bancilhon and Vanessa Guide are excellent too. Some films are full of annoying, irritating moments that spoil the good ones. Here, I found the opposite to be true. It’s those irritating moments that are saved by the thrilling events.
When you see the cover, you’d think it was an American Teen Movie. And so it is! All Western cultures come together. The film is far from being just a comedy. It’s a clever mix of drama and comedy. There are moments when you really don’t laugh. And others where we laugh out loud. You can see the ending as ridiculous or as a big joke. But the whole thing remains quite touching. To be seen once, I’d say! 3,5
