Tate McRae – All the things i never said (2020) It’s always the same thing!Either I could say ‘Another pop singer! Nothing original.” But I could also say that she’s a very good pop singer for those discovering this musical genre. It’s pretty hard not to get jaded when you listen to so much music. You can end up only listening to the stuff you love and be done with the rest, or just end up avoiding it or getting rid of it altogether. But the fact remains that Tate McRae is a great singer. She’s got the voice for what she does and she uses it well. She talks about all the preoccupations a teenage girl can have, whether it’s the things that tear you apart, the fake friends who want sex, the times when you feel stupid and so on. This first EP is pretty good. From catchy moments to ballads, this quarter of an hour is a pleasure to listen to. I just think I discovered Tate a bit late. I think I would have loved her and she would have been one of my favourites if she’d already been around in the 2000s. It’s by no means my favourite kind of music, but this time at least, I’m going to give it a very good mark. What’s more, these five tracks are placed in a good order, as they increase in intensity. At the end, I had the impression that I’d attended a mini-concert from which I’d come away quite satisfied. What’s more, at the end of the last song, there’s deliberately that grainy vinyl sound which is a real pleasure. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
