Sarah Saint James – Home Is Where The Hell Is EP A nice little five-track EP. Very good Pop. But for that, of course, you need to appreciate a modicum of Pop. There’s also a touch of Pop Rock in tracks like ‘Borderline’ (no, no, nothing to do with Madonna’s song, if ever!) and ‘Heather’.

Sarah is not one of my favourite current singers, I admit, but I like her. For me, she’s not up there with Bebe Rexha, Ava Max, Billie Eilish, Alice Merton, Dua Lipa, Angèle and the list goes on. The fifth song is the title track. The first, Mad at God, is powerful and has great lyrics. It’s her big hit.Her life is pretty interesting, because she probably knows the power of social media better than anyone.

After uploading the Mad At God demo, of all things, to TikTok (which means everything and nothing at the same time!), she absolutely took off – gaining over 100k likes, as well as followers on a range of different platforms. But, of course, that doesn’t mean it’s great music, but she’s certainly been hard-working enough to catch on easily through her choruses. Sarah Saint James is by no means a throwaway singer, it’s just that I have my preferences. I discovered her because I heard she was in the tradition of artists like Marisa Maino, singer of Tramp Stamps… whom I particularly like, though. That said, her latest song, released nine months ago, ‘What it always was’, is beautiful and touching.

Despite everything I’ve just said, I have to admit that we’re lucky to have this singer-songwriter from Adelaide, Australia, based in Sydney.
