Wir sind die Nacht/We are the night (2010) Two years after Die Welle/La Vague, Max Riemelt and Jennifer Ulrich (two of the main actors) are back in this film. As for Karoline Herfurth, it’s six years after the second Mädchen Mädchen/Girls & Sex (2004) that she is back in this feature film.
A fine cast of actors and actresses. Max is one of the two lead actors in Free Fall – Freier Fall (2013), Karoline is one of the three main actresses in both Mädchen Mädchen/Girls & Sex, a sort of German-style female American Pie (the first of which dates from 2001).
This film is good, but it’s not incredible. I’d seen it before, but I’d forgotten about it and it’s not as good as I remember. That said, as I said, the actors are great. The action is entertaining, not too over the top for a vampire movie. There’s not really a sex scene.
There’s a lot of blood, but it’s not necessarily gory or splattery. Above all, the film shows the suffering of a young woman who has become a vampire, even though she didn’t ask for it. However, her miserable life becomes a little more interesting, even if the transformation remains painful. A bit like adolescence!
Not everything is thrilling and there are scenes that can seem ridiculous. The ending is very nice, even if it leaves it up to the viewer to imagine what really happened. A good moment of horror with this German film.
