Unforgettable (2017) In France, the film is called “Rivales”. For me, both titles suck. I say that quite honestly. I’ve seen this film twice. I think I liked it a lot more the first time.

I have to admit that it’s not as good as a whole string of other films such as Fatal Attraction (1987), Sleeping With The Enemy (1991), Single White Female (1992), The Perfect Guy/Un Homme Parfait (2015), Obsessed (2009), No Good Deed/Double Betrayal (2014) and When The Bough Breaks/Quand le vent tourne (2016).

I’ve never been a huge Rosario Dawson fan.
And yet I have to admit that she’s in a lot of films I love, like Seven Pounds (2009), Zombieland 2 (2019) and The Captive (2014). She’s also great as the bassist in Josie and the Pussycats (2001). She’s also done some very cool films like Men in Black 2 (2002), Unstoppable (2010) and Death Proof (2007). And she’s in a superhero mini-series that I love: Marvel’s The Defenders (2017). She’s excellent here.

As for Katherine Heigl, I like her a lot more… although in Hollywood, everyone hates her! At least, that’s what some articles said a dozen years ago. Because of her many whims as a star, the star of Roswell had built up a very bad reputation in Hollywood… So much so that no one wanted to hire her anymore! “Even the biggest stars don’t have these demands!”

Katherine Heigl had already received a dressing-down for her appalling behaviour on Grey’s Anatomy, but after that it was the whole of Hollywood that took her down a peg.

Spoilt little girl, pest, diva – there was no shortage of words to describe her. Her mother, Nancy Heigl, who accompanied her wherever she went, didn’t help matters either, being a person who insulted everyone and took everyone for a fool.

As a result, even though Katherine seemed perfect for certain roles, she was refused them. Which makes us laugh less when we see her in Dangerous Housewife (2015) or here, because we wonder how much she’s really like that. Anyway!
As you can see, she plays the psychopath in the film. It’s worth noting that in real life she suffered greatly from the death of her brother, who left when she was 15.

The pace is good, but the suspense isn’t exceptional, because many of the problems are solved quite simply and the characters understand too easily things that aren’t so obvious. This gives the film a slightly ridiculous air.

The characters remain interesting and this descent into hell must happen more often than you might think.

A must-see film for the biggest thriller fans who want to see them all. But not essential for the others, i.e. those who don’t like the genre or only want to see the best.

My Rating

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
