The Hills Have Eyes 3 (Animated Fan Film) An apparently French animated film by Laviv42. Laviv42 wrote, directed and also did some of the music, unless I’m mistaken. Yes, it’s clearly reminiscent of the band Level 42!

Movie Synopsis: “A group of young people decided to spend a few days in a quiet place far from everything. One of them discovered an old nuclear test village on Google Earth. They decided to go there together. Non-Official and Non-Commercial Movies”.

So, let me be quite clear: this animated film isn’t great… but I have immense respect for the work that’s been done, both by an amateur director and amateur voice actors. Clearly you shouldn’t expect Pixar, Dreamworks or Walt Disney in general. There are even some very poorly done drawings, like the record player for example. Sometimes things happen and you don’t understand what.

The creepy atmosphere is reminiscent of the Norwegian comedy-drama “Free Jimmy” from 2006. It was also an animated film for adults. Nothing special otherwise! It’s still a typical “Hill Have Eyes”, with groups of people getting separated, if only to urinate, and getting shot as soon as they’re alone. So it’s not an exciting story. People going into dark corners unarmed or surviving lethal wounds. And to top it all off, a hopeless ending.

All the makings of a horror film, with no subtlety whatsoever. Well… at least the credits end with Johnny Cash. Although there’s a good chance he’ll have stirred in his grave knowing his song was used for this.
