Sea Fever (2019) This time it’s not Cabin Fever – Black Fever (2002), but Sea Fever! And it’s even worse. We were almost treated to a maritime Alien… but alas… it’s ruined!

The film literally falls apart in every direction. And yet the atmosphere was good for a while. But once the film loses us, it’s gone for good. Every minute plunges us further and further into boredom. Sea Fever is a Belgian-British-Swedish-Irish sci-fi horror film. So it is! Just because a film is full of different nationalities doesn’t mean it’s any good!

Dougray Scott, who was supposed to play Wolverine, but was injured during the filming of his greatest film success, which is surely his role as Tom Cruise’s enemy in John Woo’s Mission Impossible 2. He was also due to play James Bond, for whom he had long been approached after Pierce Brosnan, but it was Daniel Craig who finally got the part. So far, he hasn’t had much luck. But then he had a role in season 3 of the TV series Desperate Housewives. He also married actress Claire Forlani. In short! We’ve seen him here and there, in films and series. The film’s best-known actress is Denmark’s Connie Nielsen, revealed to the world in 2000 by her portrayal of Lucilla in Ridley Scott’s epic Gladiator.

But famous or not, no actor in this film is irreplaceable. None of them is so transcendent or incredible that you think ‘I’m going to watch his entire filmography’. No, Sea Fever is a useless failure with a misleading cover that could have been bad even with a huge budget. Because here, it sinks into boredom, but with too much money, it would have sunk into too many unrealistic special effects. Here’s a review to add to mine, that complements mine : “missed opportunities and opportunities SEA FEVER starts off entertaining and mysterious.

After about twenty minutes, the mystery thriller becomes increasingly gripping and the characters are convincing. But central and existential questions (around the mysterious creature) remain unanswered, which is very weak and disappointing. The film would have had a lot of potential. So I can’t recommend this film and I won’t be watching it a second time, because the pleasure of seeing it again is far too weak. Even if, in principle, it is well made. In short: it starts well, it ends badly.
