“Secrets In A Small Town” is a Canadian movie also known as “Nowhere”. Then French the title La nuit où ma fille a disparu translates as ‘The night my daughter disappeared….’. This is a more than decent Telefilm. And this is coming from someone who generally hates TV films!
Quite an interesting plot, quite intolerable cruelty and cowardice, the lead actresses very good in their roles. Yes, because it’s mainly the female leads who come into their own here: the mother, her daughter, the women’s basketball team and their coach.
This is the story of a young teenager who moves to another town and disappears quite quickly. Her mother moves heaven and earth to find her and never gives up hope. I had a good time. I wasn’t constantly wondering if it was going to end soon.
I really liked it when the mother’s anger was expressed at the end. But throughout the film, her despair is palpable. As well as her doubts every time she senses that people around her are lying.
The TV film doesn’t seem to get a very good rating (5.9/10), probably because people expected too much from it.
For my part, I was expecting a lot and I wasn’t disappointed.
