Wonder Wheel (2017) A fun film! Although… that’s not the adjective that really fits this film. It’s easy to watch. It’s depressing and funny. It’s much more a drama than a comedy.

Woody Allen once again creates interesting, zany, crazy characters…Lots of great dialogue. I thought Kate Winslet was resting on her laurels and that her acting talents were in freefall. I was wrong: she still excels as much as ever! Incredible in this role.

James Belushi is quite interesting: he reacts the same way when his daughter arrives as when she disappears. Woody Allen’s art of observing all the details of everyday life. And what a daughter (played by Juno Temple)! Indeed, Carolina is the purest, nicest character… and yet a truly tragic destiny. A world that looks nice from the outside… but how can you live lives of depression next to a funfair that lasts… that lasts…A world of lies and secrecy, dominated by alcohol and hampered by pyromania. In short, a truly explosive cocktail. It’s funny that the story is told at the beginning by the lifeguard, played by the excellent artist Justin Timberlake.

I’m not always a Woody fan, but I rather liked this film!
