The Bunker Game (2022) (Film Review)

The Bunker Game (2022) This bunker game is a 2022 French-Italian horror film directed by Roberto Zazzara. And frankly… it shows!!! The film was released on Shudder on March 17, 2022. Shudder is an American subscription video-on-demand service offering horror, thriller and supernatural fiction titles, owned and operated by AMC Networks. The streaming service offers original films, TV series, such as “Creepshow”, based on the first film of the same name created in 1982, and documentary series.

At the start of the film, there are a lot of people. It takes about half an hour for the most charismatic characters to separate from the others and come together. It’s not easy to get hooked on the film during this preparation. I wondered where all this was leading me. Alas… nowhere! The dialogue is pretty bad.

Much of the film relies on French actress Gaia Weiss. Unfortunately, she’s not the most incredible thing in the world of cinema. She’s nowhere near Emma Stone, Milla Jovovich, Jennifer Lawrence or even Ana Girardot. And the list goes on! Just because she looks great in her blonde wig at the start of the film, and then in her red hair, doesn’t make her a good actress. No, really: you could say this movie sucks. It deserves it!

To conclude, I’d say I’ve really come across a cruelly suspenseless, relatively flat film, when all the ingredients were there to make a very good one. It’s possible that Roberto Zazzara didn’t take any film courses, that he wanted to do as he pleased, convinced that he’s a misunderstood modern genius. Let’s pray, or hope, that he doesn’t make another film. Sometimes it takes a lot of wisdom to admit that you need to change professions.
