The Passenger (2023) (also titles The Commuter) Last Passenger is a relatively unsuccessful British film, even if the beginning is quite gripping. The Passenger with Liam Neeson is decent without being incredible, because it’s too close to Non-Stop. Passengers is one of Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence’s best films.I could go on, but let’s get on with this film. This is a psychological thriller in the form of a road movie with dull dialogue. It’s a shame, because the beginning of the film is really great. But after the first ten minutes, the film petered out. A big disappointment for me.Kyle Gallner is an excellent actor, as we’ve already seen in What Comes Around (2023), Smile (2022) and Scream 5 (also 2022). Here, he finds himself in an unnecessarily violent film. Having said that, I saw that the film has been classified in some places as a Thriller/ horror-horror!So I know that shooting someone, killing someone is absolutely horrible. But in this case, 50% of films are horror/horror!I saw a comment from someone who wrote ‘I have to admit that having had too much to drink, I couldn’t find the stop button, so I had to sit through the whole thing…’. At least he’s not humourless. You could take this film as a parody of ‘Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien (With a Friend Like Harry… (2000)’, which was already not a good film, although the story was interesting. You might also think that there’s not only a writers‘ strike, but also an actors’ strike! But, in fact, no: actor Johnny Berchtold (or John Berchtold) and actress Liza Weil do just fine. It’s just that the main character is so limp it’s sickening. But the acting is just right and only the most sensitive will know what I’m talking about. What a shame! Because this could have been a really good mix of drama, tension, violence and emotion. Sometimes it’s better to watch a black hole in the universe rather than spending hours watching a bad movie. 🌟🌟
