Pacific Rim (2013) (Film Review)

Pacific Rim (2013) A great film, but too tiring for me! Have I aged? When I saw it at the cinema, I fell asleep. Quite a feat for a sci-fi action film! Not a huge fan of Guillermo Del Toro. Haven’t seen Crimson Peak yet… but…”Not Afraid of the Dark” sucks, just like “Mimic” & “Chonos”. “Shape of Water” is twisted. Pan’s Labyrinth is super unhealthy, but quite interesting. I love both Hellboy movies, though. But they’re very dark, too.

So… in this film, the actors are cool, it’s always a pleasure to see Ron Perlman, Idris Elba is always impeccable in his roles, the characters are interesting…Yes, lots of good points, but…The action scenes are too spectacular, too much slow motion, too grandiose to see anything. What’s more, the monsters’ heads are hard to make out (too bizarre shapes, we don’t know where the eyes, mouths or tongues are…), and they often take place in the dark or in the water. In short! It’s so well done that it’s too messy. These aren’t X-Men or Avengers-style fight scenes, but Transformers-style. Every film has its audience!
