Philippe Geluck – The Cat. The future of Le Chat Le Chat is a series of newspaper cartoons and comic strips created by Philippe Geluck on 22 March 1983 in a supplement to the Belgian newspaper Le Soir, featuring the eponymous hero in numerous gags. Twenty-four albums and six best-ofs have been released since its creation.

For Le Chat, the third millennium will be fun… or it won’t be! Dedicated to his son Antoine. According to the albums on the back of the comic, this is the 18th to be released. I’m going to give it four stars. Why? Because it’s really good.Because it’s really good, but as I can be extremely demanding, I’m going to say that not everything is great or perfect.

There are some jokes that aren’t as easy to understand or that aren’t as funny. There’s a picture of a Taliban and his wife. This has become normal in these comics. There’s also a gag about Australia and its Turkish toilets. But it’s pretty dirty with excrement. And a little further on, there’s a second image with poo. I don’t think there’s ever been so much poo!

Basically, it’s funny, but not in the best taste. But the endless and surprising puns, and the ones you don’t immediately understand, are still what make Geluck a genius of humour and observation.
