The Nun (2018) So…I’m a big fan of Conjuring 1 & 2 and I didn’t like the Annabelle trilogy. The Nun is right in between! In fact, it’s not bad at all, even good… but it quickly loses its tension and strength. And that’s a shame. The character seen in Conjuring 2 is a pleasure… but nothing more.
Admittedly, the trio of lead actors are pretty great and I fully appreciated them. But it’s full of long-windedness and exaggerations. The atmosphere is good, but without any huge surprises, almost predictable. Unfortunately, there are more weaknesses than strengths. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this film, even if it does keep you entertained at times.
There are a lot of clichés, a typically Hollywood ending and shocking moments, of which there are only one or two. If I were ultra enthusiastic and positive, I’d have said that I really liked this film, that the atmosphere is dark and very disturbing and that the cast is very well chosen. But I didn’t reach that first stage.
