The Vaccines – What Did You Expect From The Vaccines (2011) 2011 was the year that produced one of the best bands of the 2010s, which is still happily active. This 35-minute, 37-second debut album was already a masterstroke. A very powerful, color-announcing intro song, very short and lasting 1:21!Followed by their biggest hit “If You Wanna”. 12 songs of varying degrees of interest, from soaring to electrifying.

On Spotify, it’s easy to see that it’s always this first album that dominates! Of the band’s ten most-listened-to tracks, six are from this first album. The second most-listened-to track is the only one from the second album, I Always Knew, which is also a masterpiece. Some of the songs remind me of the Ramones. The energy and the three-chord feel. Post Break-Up Sex sounds like The KKK Took My Baby Away, for example. The song Wreckin’ Bar (Ra Ra Ra) is not without a sense of humor. The band apparently said there was too much Na Na Na or La La La in the songs, but no Ra Ra Ra!

All in all, The Vaccines are one of the best Alternative Indie Rock bands around, easily taking their place alongside the likes of Editors and Interpol.

Of course, they’re also pros at Garage Rock, Surf Rock and Post-Punk revival.Note that FreddieCowan (guitar, brother of The Horrors bassist) was on this album, but is no longer in the band, alas. https://www.thevaccines.com/
