Widowspeak – Honeychurch (2021) I listened to their album Jacket (2022) and loved it.Here we have five tracks. A soothing, soaring entrance… but this song, Money (Hymn), turns the phrase ‘Money doesn’t grow on trees’ on its head, when it’s high time we finally thought the opposite in order to manifest abundance once and for all!

That said, it has some similarities with Roxy Music’s ‘Mother of Pearl’… which is no mean feat. Sanguine is one of my favourite songs from the band. Very simple, but so good. Very simple, with its faults, but so authentic and good. Romeo and Juliet is very pretty too, it’s a bit more successful, but I like it a bit less. The last song is the title track of the EP: Honeychurch. It’s a simple instrumental outro too. It doesn’t have a variation, but I’ve just listened to it three times on a loop. It’s short, it makes you float, it deliberately has that vinyl sizzle. Perfect for creating a subliminal for a Perfect Life!

The icing on the cake: a cover of The One I Love by the legendary R.E.M.!And what a cover! So sweet, so cute… and definitely THE cover we needed! It’s not certain that this EP will be available in physical form. You can certainly find their CDs and LPs, but I haven’t seen this one.
