Creepshow – Season 1 (2019) Nice! It was really good! But that’s just it… it was too good and it met pretty much all my demands! There were indeed nods to the first Creepshow films. The comic-book aspect, the production with the drawn boxes, the good morals. After all, what really matters is that the bastards are punished. It was scary and funny at the same time. As a result, I was pretty sure that the next few seasons can only suck, because that’s what usually happens to tv series. They lose their subtlety and up the violence. I hated the first story and thought “Well, that wasn’t promising!” But I loved the second episode as there was a good dose of humor, scares and not too much gore… so perfect for me!

As a reminder: I love the first Creepshow movie. The Creepshow 2 is great, but slightly less good…Or let’s say it’s complementary! Creepshow 3 was on the verge of disaster. It had almost no subtlety, alas. There’s something interesting in every story… but it’s always poorly exploited . The Twilight Zone films were worth seeing too. Otherwise, I preferred this first season of the Creepshow TV Series to Tales from the Crypt, as well as Nightmares and Dreamscapes (also by Stephen King!). Some fans may disagree, but so much the better, in fact! We’re here to debate, not necessarily to agree. To each his own !!!

Creepshow – Season 2 (2021) Really good !!!!!! OK…In a few moments, I’ll get into Season 3! I watched the first two seasons during this week. And… frankly… I got my money’s worth! Yes, I really enjoyed it! In two seasons, I’ve seen: Scary creatures, some are even taken from old movies… and the special effects are true to the period! I saw gore, but not too much… just enough for me! I’ve seen werewolf, vampire, zombie, Loch Ness monster inspiration, people who’ll do anything for money or to lose weight, giant insects or insect invasions, nods to the first two Creepshows movies… which were brilliant!

One of the few series I’ve had so much fun watching is Black Mirror… of which I still have Season 5 to watch. I’ve seen space, I’ve seen spaceships, a guy who’s in prison when you think he’s a big killer… but he refuses to plead insanity! There’s a haunted castle, a serial killer, a monster rising from the sewers, the modern side of video games and social networks/ The nods to the comics are ultra-faithful too. And there’s scathing humor. I hope the next season is as good as ever. I really do! I’m so excited about what I expected that I could debate each story for hours… but to anyone who will listen! 😉

Creepshow – Season 3 (2023) Noooo! As I predicted…it sucks! Season 3 sunk into tv series decay. Everything is worse: the stories, the surprises, the subtlety, the justice, the morals. Some viewers wanted more gore and less story and got what they wanted. Silly buggers! And what’s worse, the next season is even worse than this one!

Creepshow – Season 4 (2024) No, no and no!!! I’ve just spent my day watching this fourth season and it’s a definitive NO for me! Only episode 5 was more or less to my liking. One thing’s for sure: there’s no story here that’s perfect. Fans of totally gratuitous, unimaginative gore have finally got what they wanted… but they’ve also managed to completely destroy a franchise that had managed to be saved.

Like Black Mirror, Creepshow (which is even worse than peep-show now!) should have stopped before the final season, in order to retain some dignity. But now it’s over. But if the aim is to lose as many fans as possible, then it’s more than a success! Except it’s not that hard to do. It’s easy to be vile, disgusting, nasty and vulgar. It’s much more noble AND difficult to do the opposite.
