The Hallow (2015)

The Hallow (2015) Actor Joseph Mawle, who is best known for playing Benjen Stark in the hit series Game of Thrones, gives his all here. And I knew that Bojana Novakovic’s face was very familiar. Of course: she stars in a series (Instinct) with Alan Cumming! I’ll have to watch I, Tonya (2017) where she is with Margot Robbie. Bojana is still a very good actress, but this film is enough to destroy her career!

Indeed, I wasn’t bored for a second for 50 minutes. The pace was excellent and the story gripping. After that, everything becomes incomprehensible, incoherent and ridiculous. The class of the first half completely evaporated in the second. What a mess! It’s as if they’d made a film just to make a British-Irish horror film co-written and directed by Corin Hardy. who made The Nun (2018), who I’m unlikely to become a fan of.

Just goes to show, you can criticise American films all you like, but that doesn’t stop the others from making some bloody rubbish. I couldn’t wait for it to end… even if the last two minutes before the credits roll are beautiful, as is the song that goes with them.
