Ash – BBC Live Sessions 1994-1999 – A treat for fans of 90s alternative rock. 44 minutes and almost 44 seconds of pure bliss. Not to be confused with Ash, the producer, or other projects of the same name. In fact, I was almost fooled recently! When I saw Ash on a poster for a list of concerts, I thought it was this mythical band that was coming back. I didn’t hesitate before buying my ticket, but the cashier at my local concert hall, who knew me well, told me it wasn’t the band I had in mind. So she saved me from wasting my money for nothing.

I always thought I had an unconditional love for Ash. And in fact… I do!!! Alas, I don’t think this album is available in physical form, either on CD or vinyl. You can listen to it on streaming platforms. And that’s something, even if I know that collectors would love to have it in their hands. Yes, including me, of course!

You can hear the voice of the late, great John Peel talking to the band on the last two tracks. The radio host tells them that they should record acoustic tracks like the band does with him. Advice from a great master should always be heeded. I’d give anything to have this band back, and I’d love to have seen them live.
