Am I Ok ? (2024) Oh dear! Another film proving that 2024 really isn’t all good. Another bad film starring Dakota Johnson! She’s been at it for a long time now. There was Dirty Weather at the El Royale Hotel (2018), Madame Web (2024), all the Fifty Shades and I was told that Suspiria (2018) was also to be avoided. By the way, Madame Web is probably the worst superhero film I’ve seen and this one is probably the worst lesbian film I’ve watched. As for Sonoya Mizuno, she has as little class here as she did in The Domestics (2018). Crazy! I admit it’s talent when actors or actresses change so much.
This film could have touched me, but it bored me relatively. The women who loved it will simply call me a big narrow-minded conservative or a big macho who doesn’t support women’s freedom! And that’s without even knowing anything about me! Not to mention how many romantic films I’ve actually loved in my life. But, alas, it’s a fact: romantic comedies in general are not for me! She whines, she complains, she hesitates, she wonders whose side she’s on, she refrains from sending certain messages over the phone… For people who are still asking themselves these existential crisis questions, it may be a treat.
For those who stopped asking them a long time ago, it’s more of an ordeal. So, for me, the dialogue is very insipid and devoid of interest. This film is no better than watching a reality show. All the main characters are equally unbearable. It was a horror to watch this turnip to the end. So yes, it must be a thrill, as actresses, to play characters you want to hate and slap all the way through, but I try to watch films so that I can forget all the people who are already all around us.
Artistically, it’s a fart in the water, because the people who recognise themselves in this film will think it’s too great. And they won’t try to improve. And to think that it was precisely in order to cure myself of horror films that I watched this crap.
