Goosebumps (2015) It’s true that I haven’t seen it in 3D. What a shame! Even if, in the end, it doesn’t change much. You always remember 2D films, even if you’ve seen them in 3D!
In this feature film, I rediscovered a little something. For years, I’ve complained that I’ve never felt the pleasure of seeing films like Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, the first Batman film, and so on.
Here, I’ve almost rediscovered that pleasure. Unfortunately, I’ve aged. I saw it 20 years too old.
But it’s a very good film of its kind. I hope my daughter will enjoy it when she grows up a bit.
Jack Black often has a habit of annoying me and irritating me to no end. Here he’s great and really funny. The humour is light, but quite good. Rob Letterman, who made the amusing ‘Monsters vs. Aliens’, is in fine form here. As is Danny Elfman’s music, which is always top-notch! The film’s musical choices are pretty cool too.
Full of special effects, chases and monsters of all kinds. Here, what should have happened in the film ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ took place. We see a bit more of the creatures and a bit more of them in different scenes. It’s not quite there yet, they should have been spread out a bit more, but it’s better! A nice moment and it’s even touching!

Goosebumps 2 (2018) Quite Fun! Much to my surprise, I already thought the first one would suck… but I had fun with both. Sonny Quinn and his best friend at college, Sam, make a bit of money by collecting things people no longer want. That’s how they come across Slappy, a strange ventriloquist’s puppet straight out of a never-published Goosebumps book. Slappy longs to be part of the Quinn family with Sonny, his sister Sarah and their mother Kathy, but his evil exploits go far too far.
The children soon realise that they must stop this diabolical puppet at all costs. Slappy decides to create the family of his dreams… by kidnapping Mrs Quinn and bringing all his horrible Halloween accomplices back to life. As their quiet little town is transformed into a living hell populated by an armada of monsters of all kinds, from the most terrifying to the most hilarious, the children and their neighbour, Mr Chu, do everything they can to save their mother and the town from the Machiavellian plans of the dreadful unleashed puppet…
A nice moment, by no means unforgettable, but it’s easy to watch without pretension.
Not great cinema, but very good entertainment.
