The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009) Excellent film! It’s funny: I immediately thought of Kidnapping Stella when I saw this film… without knowing that this film is the original. In fact, Kidnapping Stella is a German remake created in 2019.

There are a few inconsistencies, such as the need to go to the toilet very little after all. There’s a constant tension in this film. It’s a change from the ridiculous jump scares of horror films that have very little imagination.

It’s a successful low-budget, behind-closed-doors film starring just three actors: Gemma Arterton, Martin Compston and Eddie Marsan. All three very good. Independent film, British thriller written and directed by J. Blakeson.I’m not a huge fan of Gemma Arterton, but there’s plenty here to make you one! She always plays up her sexy side, of course. But she gave her heart and soul to this film.

Eddie Marsan is an actor we see here and there, but rarely in leading roles. He’s in Sherlock Holmes (2009), Deadpool 2 (2018), The Virtuoso (2021), Hancock (2008), but he’s a relative standout in the role of the driving instructor in the wonderful Happy-Go-Lucky (2008). We’ll also be delighted to see him in the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black (2024).

Not much to say about Martin Compston. I don’t think I’ve seen any of his films before. He does his job perfectly here. Even if his character can be insufferable at times.

Disturbing but amusing chamber play that can lack spark. This is an exciting film. A must-see for any fan of solid thrillers with a few unexpected twists. Those who are ultra fans of British films might expect better and be disappointed, though. But it’s really well done and quite successful.Good twists between the 3 characters.

The last 15 minutes devalue the film a little, as it goes round in circles a bit. But the very end is great, and I love films where you show all the places where something important happened.
