Seule – Les dossiers Silvercloud/ Let Her Kill You (2023) Jérôme Dassier est un 1er assistant réalisateur, Scénariste, Réalisateur français. Apparemment, il a 20 ans de carrière. Du coup, je ne sais pas comment il travaille, ni quelle école il a fait. Ce film s’agit de son premier long-métrage.

J’espère qu’il va changer de cap et devenir électricien, cuisinier ou même dessinateur de bandes dessinées. Mais il faut qu’il le fasse pour le bien de l’humanité. Oui, ce film a certes une histoire intéressante… mais le film ne l’est pas du tout. Je me suis ennuyé comme un rat mort.

Je ne connais pas vraiment Asia Argento. Il me semble que je ne l’ai jamais vu dans un film que j’ai aimé et aucun de ses rôles ne m’a marqué. Je sais qu’elle est la fille de Dario Argento qui est un très mauvais réalisateur et, du coup, forcément, il a pas mal de succès ! Hé oui : c’est le maître du giallo (mélange policier, horreur et érotique) et il y aura toujours un public pour ça. Aria Anna Maria Vittoria Rossa Argento, de son nom complet, a pourtant du talent d’après tout ce que j’entends et lit sur elle. Elle est réalisatrice de cinéma, actrice, écrivain animatrice de télévision, productrice, mannequin, chanteuse, scénariste, disc jockey, militante. Mais peut-être qu’elle aurait dû faire militaire ou institutrice. Enfin, je dis ça comme ça, hein !

Non ! C’est vrai que je suis cruel et méchant avec elle, mais, en même temps, ce film repose sur elle. Et comme elle n’a pas le charisme le plus incroyable du monde, je n’ai même pas été hypnotisé ou touché par elle. Non, vraiment ! Il y a tant de films qui commencent bien et qui empirent de minutes en minutes.

Ce film-ci devient intéressant seulement vers la fin. À peu près là où il se termine. Il n’y a pas de sexe, cette fois-ci… mais il aurait peut-être fallu en avoir pour avoir au moins une scène marquante. En plus, c’est un film est franco-suisse. Je devais avoir un peu envie de sombrer un peu dans la dépression en me lançant là-dedans, vu que j’allais un peu trop bien ce matin. Bon, histoire de rigoler encore un bon coup, j’ai trouvé la critique de quelqu’un qui n’en peut plus, tellement il a adoré ce film : «Un film d’espionnage à ne pas rater, en huis-clos avec comme respiration des paysages enneigés à perte de vue.

Un film intelligent et sensible hors du commun qui bouscule les codes du cinéma français. Dommage qu’une sortie bien trop discrète lui soit attribuée…» Je ne sais pas si cette personne est ouverte d’esprit, mais si elle l’est, je pense qu’on pourrait parler pendant des heures de nos différences !

Heureusement que j’ai trouvé d’autres critiques qui rejoignent la mienne :

1) «Du jour au lendemain, Anna, une femme qui vit recluse dans un chalet, découvre que son lieu d’habitation est truffé de matériel pour l’espionner. Elle comprend alors que son ancienne vie d’agent secret refait surface. Si les intentions ne sont pas claires, on comprend notamment qu’il est question d’une élection présidentielle. “Let Her Kill You” est un thriller d’espionnage politique en quasi huis-clos qui est ponctué par des flashbacks et de nombreux coups de téléphone. Ça se veut mystérieux, mais c’est surtout ringard et jamais captivant. On ne croit pas un seul instant à ce qui se passe et on a l’impression que tout fait faux comme si on lui faisait une mauvaise blague.

Déjà, le début donne l’impression que l’on prend un film en cours de route… Les enjeux sont mal détaillés, on ne saisit pas leur importance, c’est difficile de s’investir dans cette histoire qui a fini par m’ennuyer profondément.»

2) Film terriblement ennuyeux avec une seule personne dans tout le film pendant pratiquement toute la durée, sauf une autre personne qui apparaît en flashbacks. C’est affligeant et en plus il y a des discussions à répétitions en anglais, en français et en italien. J’ai lâché prise après 1h et j’ai parcouru le reste en accéléré pour être sûr de ne pas rater un “must” du cinéma … aucun regret.»

3) «J’ai vraiment traversé un océan d’ennui à regarder ce film de Jérôme Dossier.On comprend des les premières minutes que le film est fauché, allons donc je me dis on va donner une chance au scénario. Bien mal m’en a pris, c’est tellement rocambolesque que ç’en est risible.

Asia Argento est d’une beauté toujours intacte et tellement photogénique que c’est le seul attrait du film. Mais en ancienne espionne traquée par un organisme tentaculaire russe pour lui soutirer une vidéo qu’elle possède et qui peut influencer les présidentielles américaines à l’époque d’Obama… on y croit pas trop !»Voilà pour ce film, les amis !

So I don’t know how he works, or what school he went to. This is his first feature film. I hope he’ll change direction and become an electrician, a cook or even a cartoonist. But he has to do it for the good of humanity.

Yes, this film certainly has an interesting story… but the film isn’t interesting at all. I was bored out of my mind. I don’t really know Asia Argento. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her in a film I liked and none of her roles have made any impression on me. I do know that she’s the daughter of Dario Argento, who is a very bad director, so he’s obviously quite successful! That’s right: Argento’s the master of giallo (a mix of crime, horror and erotica) and there will always be an audience for that.

Aria Anna Maria Vittoria Rossa Argento, her full name, is talented though, according to everything I hear and read about her. She’s a film director, actress, writer, TV host, producer, model, singer, scriptwriter, disc jockey and campaigner. But maybe she should have been a soldier or a teacher. Well, I’m just saying!

No it’s true that I’m cruel and unkind to her, but, at the same time, this film relies on her. And as she doesn’t have the most incredible charisma in the world, I wasn’t even hypnotised or touched by her. No, really! There are so many films that start well and get worse by the minute. This film only gets interesting towards the end. About where it ends.

There’s no sex this time… but maybe there should have been to have at least one stand-out scene. What’s more, it’s a Franco-Swiss film. I must have wanted to sink into a bit of depression by throwing myself into this, as I was feeling a bit too well this morning. Well, just for one more good laugh, I found this review from someone who couldn’t take it any more, because he loved the film so much: “A not-to-be-missed spy film, set behind closed doors with snow-covered landscapes as far as the eye can see. An intelligent, sensitive and extraordinary film that shakes up the codes of French cinema. It’s a shame it’s being released far too discreetly.”

I don’t know if this person is open-minded, but if she is, I think we could talk for hours about our differences! Fortunately, I found other reviews that agree with mine:

1) “From one day to the next, Anna, a woman who lives in seclusion in a chalet, discovers that her home is riddled with spy equipment.She realises that her old life as a secret agent is resurfacing.While the intentions of the film are unclear, it is clear that it is about a presidential election. ‘Let Her Kill You’ is a political espionage thriller set almost behind closed doors, punctuated by flashbacks and numerous phone calls. It’s meant to be mysterious, but it’s mostly cheesy and never captivating. You don’t believe for a moment what’s going on and you get the impression that everything is fake, as if someone is playing a bad joke on him. The beginning of the film already gives the impression that it’s being made on the run…The stakes are poorly detailed, you don’t grasp their importance, it’s hard to get invested in this story which ended up boring me deeply.”

2) Terribly boring film with only one person in the whole film for practically the entire duration, except for one other person who appears in flashbacks.It’s distressing and on top of that there are repeated discussions in English, French and Italian.It’s a shame it’s being released far too discreetly…’ no regrets.’

3) “I really went through an ocean of boredom watching this film by Jérôme Dossier.It’s clear from the first few minutes that the film is broke, so I thought I’d give the script a chance. It’s so far-fetched it’s laughable. Asia Argento is as beautiful as ever and so photogenic that it’s the film’s only attraction. But as a former spy hunted down by a sprawling Russian organisation to extract a video in her possession that could influence the American presidential election in the Obama era… we’re not really buying it!”

So much for this film, folks!
