Hot Pursuit (2015) Also known as ‘Miss Bodyguard’. The synopsis: Agent Cooper is a stern, uptight cop trying to protect a federal witness, Daniella Riva, the vivacious, outgoing widow of a drug lord. In a race across Texas, they find themselves pursued by crooked cops and murderers armed to the teeth. However, their biggest obstacle will be surviving their clumsiness.
Director Anne Fletcher also directed: The Proposal (2009) with the trio Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Malin Akerman. And 27 dresses – 27 robes (2008) with the quartet Katherine Heigl, James Marsden, Edward Burns and… Malin Akerman! Lastly, Step Up (2006) starred the actor known for his dancing skills, Channing Tatum!
This film isn’t excellent, it’s not a masterpiece. But it’s far from being rubbish or completely bad. It falls right in between… which, in my opinion, makes it a good film. And one thing’s for sure, the duo of Reese Witherspoon & Sofía Vergara works wonderfully! What a pleasure to see them together. If you enjoy only Spanish humour, the pairing of Salma Hayek & Penelope Cruz might have been even better in Bandidas (2006). But Bandidas didn’t leave me with any lasting memories. But I’ll give it a second chance!
Reese Witherspoon is regularly surprising. She is so excellent in all these films like Freeway (1996), Fear (1996), and Legally Blonde 1 & 2 (2001 & 2003). Avoid Legally Blondes, the third in the series, as this did not star Reese. I also really liked her in Water for Elephants (2011), American Psycho (2000) and even Little Nicky (2000). I haven’t yet seen Walk the Line (2005).
In my opinion, Sofía Vergara is one of the most hilarious people in the world! Her career is impressive. In 1999, she even appeared in an episode of Baywatch. This American-Colombian actress, producer and presenter first came to public attention as a television presenter in the late 1990s on the Spanish-language American channel Univision Network. Sofía was also spotted by a photographer while walking on a Colombian beach. She received offers to model and work in television. The young woman ‘was apprehensive and hesitant about accepting the offer, until her Catholic school teachers gave her permission’! She has given her voice to a number of cartoon characters, but not in The Smurfs (2011), where she plays a character in her own right.
She had an affair with Tom Cruise in 2005 and in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in December 2014, Sofía Vergara announced that she had taken American nationality. She is part of the impressive cast of Happy New Year (2011).In short! We could talk about this for hours!!!This film is quite funny. It doesn’t constantly descend into ridiculousness or fat humour. There are no moments that are too annoying, the pace is good and the dialogue is very nice. The two women are very different, get into each other’s heads quite a bit, but also quickly become accomplices in their difficulties. It’s a relatively pleasant moment, very enjoyable, and the blooper reel at the end is the icing on the cake… which makes the actresses even more likeable. I found a little review that simply says: ‘It takes a while for the humour to develop, but from then on, the film is divine.’
