The Show (2017) It’s all right, not bad! Not totally convinced by this film. But it lives up to its name… because it’s all about the show. Right to the end! Even if the direction changes, it’s still a show! The trappers inevitably become the trapped at some point.

The trio of lead actors (Josh Duhamel, Famke Janssen & Caitlin Fitzgerald) who are part of the show are good… but their characters aren’t convincing, as they always seem to change their minds. On the one hand, they’re desperate to make a show that works, that gets ratings and fame. But on the other, their little conscience speaks. A conscience that gets smaller and smaller until they are personally affected by their acquaintances and family members, in this case Giancarlo Esposito and Sarah Wayne Callies.

The subject matter is serious: people who come to die on TV, in front of viewers in front of their screens or sitting in the audience, in order to make a lot of money for their (usually) needy families. There’s a sister who saves lives in hospital and at the same time her brother who invites people to end their lives. I’m just a little worried that this is the kind of film that wants to denounce but ends up encouraging. We’ve seen that the science fiction of the 60s and 70s has become reality. So I dare hope that won’t be the case for this kind of film. Full of relatively irritating moments and a pace that makes you stall a few times.

A film, which joins ‘Live!’ with Eva Mendes, both to be seen once, despite everything, but not for the faint of heart. There’s nothing comical or light-hearted about this film.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
