The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008) Unbelievable! What a great look… for a relatively lame film! There’s a lot of stuff that’s amazing!
First of all, I saw The Exorcism of Molly Hartley before I saw this Curse of Molly Hartley, even though it’s supposed to be a sequel… or at least a movie that was made after. As I loved this exorcism, I thought that the first one would be even better! Nay!
This film is one of those interesting films… but during which we desperately wait for something to happen. So we expect an amazing ending… but all we get is a very bad ending that spoils everything!
The actors are good and it’s especially nice to see Jake Weber as the father, just like in his series Medium. As for Haley Bennett, I think she’s one of those actresses I’ve seen before, but didn’t really pay attention to. Whereas here, she’s front and center and captures the attention well.
The characters are interesting. Between the nasty pest, the very nice guy, the big-hearted rebel and the fanatical nun, there is also the mediator.
A pretty picture… for not much, in the end! I almost feel like I’ve seen a TV movie. I am very disappointed. The inconsistencies are unbearable.
Style: kill a girl from school and not end up in jail and even have a stupid happy ending… very little for me. I couldn’t find any other film directed by Mickey Liddell and that’s good: he didn’t do more harm to cinema. Either he ended up respecting the cinema, or the Cinema had the good sense to reject him.
The actress who plays Molly Hartley is not the same in The Exorcism of Molly Hartley which is directed by someone else. This film or TV movie is good to throw in your bin, if it’s not already full of bad movies.
